Findings. There have been several studies showing that Plax was no better than a placebo or water rinse Kohut and Mankodi, 1989; Singh, 1990; Freitas etal, 1991; Chung etal, 1992; Binney et al, 1993 ; , and significantly, Lobene et al. 1990 ; , in a sixmonth study conducted along the guidelines of the American Dental Association, have shown, contrary to their earlier study Lobene et al, 1986a ; , that Plax had no statistically significant effect on plaque scores, gingivitis index, and microbiological assays compared with water rinsing, confirming earlier shortterm studies. Plax is now marketed in Europe by a different company with a revised formulation containing triclosan, and a recent report provided encouraging findings for plaque and gingivitis and relenza.

The findings were considered important enough to be accepted for publication by two high quality peer review journals. The Harvard group published them in the online access journal PLoS Med, and the Mayo Clinic group published in the journal Blood. First, it provides an important proof-of-principle that it should be possible, with further work, to ultimately identify all of the mutations that cause PV, ET or MF. The discovery is significant for three reasons.
The 'C6201 C6202 C6701 EMIF has multiple requestors competing for the interface. Table 920 summarizes the priority scheme that the EMIF uses in the case of multiple pending requests. The priority scheme may change if the DMA channel that is issuing a request through the DMA controller is of high priority. This mode is set in the DMA controller by setting the PRI bit in the DMA channel primary control register. Once a requester in this instance, the refresh controller is considered a requester ; is prioritized and chosen, no new requests are recognized until either the chosen requester stops making requests or a subsequent higher priority request occurs. In this case, all issued requests of the previous requester are allowed to finish while the new requester starts making its requests. If the arbitration bit of the EMIF global control register is set RBTR8 1 ; and if a higher priority requester needs the EMIF, the higher priority requester does not gain control until the current controller relinquishes control or until eight word requests have finished. If the arbitration bit is not set RBTR8 0 ; , a requester maintains control of the EMIF as long as it needs the EMIF or until a higher priority requester requests the EMIF. When the RBTR8 is not set, the current controller is interrupted by a higher priority requester regardless of the number of requests that have occurred and remicade.

Annotations were mentioned in the background section as a way of making source code more understandable for others without modification. The ability to add annotations through virtual post-it notes to the source not only makes it simple for one developer to refresh their memory, it allows others to leverage the work of that developer. When the program understanding is undertaken as a precursor to adaptive maintenance1 , many developers may be working on the project. For them to collaborate it is necessary that each can view the others annotations. There are three ways in which this can be done: rely on underlying operating system support for file sharing, and allow all of the developers to access a shared database of software information, including the annotations, provide a client-server architecture, with a central server storing the project information and clients accessing it through a well defined interface, possibly via or SOAP, provide a peer-to-peer system, allowing each developer to connect to each other. Reliance on operating system support is the simplest method to implement, but complicates the procedure of setting up the system to allow multi-user access to the software information. Of the remaining two options, a client-server approach is the simpler. The general reason for choosing a peer-to-peer architecture over a client-server one is that the former has a greater tolerance to load and lacks a single point of failure. In the case of a system such as this, it is unlikely that there will be enough developers working simultaneously to overload a reasonably written server. A client-server system also avoids any problems with synchronisation between peers, so appears to be the best choice for providing information sharing support. Further motivation for the use of a central server comes from the cost of extracting and storing information from a large software project. The data extracted from a large body of source can require many times the amount of storage required to hold the source itself, making it undesirable to have to create multiple copies of the information. The time taken to perform the information extraction is also an issue, particularly when dealing with a large source base and remodulin.

Costo-phrenic angle was much clearer and the shadow in this area improved. On the right side there was haziness over the base and the outline of the diaphragm was obscured. Her final admission to hospital was on July 6, 1958. X-ray film of the chest on July 7, showed no evidence of effusion at the left base. A large effusion, however, was seen on the right side, and the bronchovascular markings throughout the lung fields were thought to be somewhat prominent. Clinically, it was fairly obvious now that she was suffering from a malignant condition with a collagen disease as an outside possibility. A gastrointestinal series was normal, and gallbladder visualization was negative. L. E. cells were not found. The total proteins were 7.4 gm. per cent, albumin-3.36 gm. per cent, globulin -4.04 gm. per cent. The C reactive protein was 6 + . few days before her death, the hemoglobin was 84 per cent 12.4 gm. per 100 ml. ; , and hematocrit 41 per cent, white cell count 13, 750, and sedimentation rate 55 mm. in one hour. She was treated with antibiotics and meticorten, but her downhill course was progressive with a troublesome cough and respiratory distress. She died on July 22, 1958. A complete autopsy, except for the head, was performed. The body showed emaciation. The pathological findings were confined to the chest cavity. Both lungs were adherent to the chest wall and were separated with great difficulty leaving many nodules of firm greyish tissue adherent to the thoracic cage. The right dome of the diaphragm was elevated, the right lung being compressed into a small fist-sized area by a bloody pleural effusion of approximately 800 cc. The right pleura measured up to 1.5 cm. in thickness. The right lung weighed 290 grams. The left lung showed a similar appearance with pleural thickening measuring up to.

Of the terms of the settlement, with an additional one-day hearing on August 10, 2000. On August 28, 2000, the District Court issued an order approving the settlement. Several appeals have been taken from that order to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, which is expected to hear and decide the appeals sometime during 2001. As of March 2001, the Company has reached agreements or agreements in principle to settle the claims of approximately 40, 000, or 80%, of those individuals who opted out of the settlement. There are approximately 10, 000 opt outs remaining. As of March 2001, the Company has been served or is aware that it has been named as a defendant in approximately 2, 800 pending lawsuits brought by individuals who have opted out of the national settlement and who have not yet agreed to a settlement of their claims. These individuals allege injury as a result of their use of PONDIMIN and or REDUX, either individually or in combination with the prescription drug phentermine which the Company does not manufacture, distribute or market ; . On June 27, 2000, a jury in the Oregon Circuit Court, Coos County, hearing the cases of Juanita Batson v. Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories Division of American Home Products Corporation, et al., No. 99CV0306, and Richard Wirt v. Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories Division of American Home Products Corporation, et al., No. 99CV0307, returned verdicts in the combined amounts of .897 million in compensatory damages and .350 million in punitive damages. Following the verdicts, and prior to post-trial motions, the cases were settled. I-12 The Company was also named as a defendant in two shareholder lawsuits arising out of the REDUX and PONDIMIN withdrawal. Oran, et al. v. Stafford, et al. No. 97-CV-4513 NHP ; , U.S.D.C., D.N.J. ; , which was commenced on September 18, 1997, was a securities fraud putative class action in which plaintiffs alleged that the Company and nine officers and directors named as controlling persons under Section 20 a ; of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 the "Exchange Act" engaged in a plan to defraud the market and purchasers of AHPC Common Stock in violation of Section 10 b ; of the Exchange Act and SEC Rule 10b-5 by failing to disclose material facts or making material misstatements of fact regarding alleged adverse events associated with REDUX and PONDIMIN, in particular the alleged association between those two products and valvular heart disease. In February 1999, the Oran case was dismissed with prejudice by the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. In September 2000, that dismissal was affirmed by the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the case has now been closed. Grill v. Stafford, et al., No. MRS-L-164-98, N.J. Sup. Ct., Morris Cty. ; , which was commenced on January 14, 1998, is a shareholder derivative action filed against the Company, certain directors, a former director and officer of the Company, and certain officers which seeks to recover any losses or damages sustained by the Company, as well as profits from the sale of stock by present and former officers and directors, as a result of alleged intentional, reckless or negligent breaches of fiduciary duty by the defendants. The complaint contains allegations that the defendants made material misstatements or omissions regarding alleged adverse events associated with REDUX and or PONDIMIN and in particular an alleged association between those two products and valvular heart disease ; , exposing the Company to liability for personal injury lawsuits and securities claims. The Grill action was stayed during the pendency of the Oran case and the Company has now moved to dismiss the Grill action. Interneuron Pharmaceuticals, Inc., the Company's licensor and marketing partner for REDUX is the plaintiff in a lawsuit against the Company Interneuron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. v. American Home Products Corp., No. 00-294 F, Superior Ct., Middlesex Cty., MA ; alleging that, beginning in February 1997, the Company withheld from Interneuron information regarding adverse events reported to the Company in connection with the use of PONDIMIN. Interneuron claims that the Company's failure to disclose the PONDIMIN information denied Interneuron the opportunity to communicate directly with the FDA on appropriate changes to the REDUX labeling, to make appropriate disclosures to Interneuron shareholders and to the financial markets, or to take any other steps to mitigate or prevent harm to Interneuron's reputation. An amended complaint includes claims for treble damages under the Massachusetts Deceptive Practices Act, as well as causes of action for fraud, negligent misrepresentation, breach of contract, and breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing. Interneuron seeks damages for lost profits and royalties from sales of REDUX, lost value to its common stock, damage to its reputation and loss of other business opportunities. Abstract The use of the spatial dimension is known to greatly increase the reliability of quasi-static i.e., non-ergodic ; wireless channels. In this paper, it is demonstrated that most of this gain can also be achieved through collaborative communications with single-antenna multiple-antenna nodes when there is one receiving agent. In particular, for the single antenna case, communication is considered to take place between clusters of nearby nodes. The existence of collaborative codes for which the intra-cluster negotiation penalty is in principle small and almost all the diversity gain of traditional space-time codes may be realized ; is shown. For example, for a single transmitter node with two collaborators and one receiver node, if the collaborators have as little as 10 dB path loss advantage over the receiver, the penalty for collaboration over traditional space-time systems is negligible. Index Terms Collaborative communications, compound channels, MIMO, relay channels, spatial diversity, wireless sensor networks and relenza.
